The Parliamentary Committee on Ways and Means has called for Sri Lanka’s tax base to be expanded, tax compliance improved and digital technology used more widely in tax administration.
The Committee reviewed the 2026 tax plan, revenue collection up to June 30, taxpayer numbers and compliance levels with officials from the Ministry of Finance and Inland Revenue Department.
The Committee also discussed strengthening the Revenue Administration Management Information System (RAMIS), expanding electronic tax services and bringing informal economic activities into the tax system.
