Political parties across Sri Lanka have organized rallies, meetings, and events today (01) to mark International Workers’ Day, with several major gatherings taking place in Colombo.
The ruling National People’s Power (NPP) has planned 21 rallies across 21 districts. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to attend events in Nuwara Eliya and Maharagama.
The opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will hold its rally at P.D. Sirisena Grounds, while the Sarvajana Balaya event is set for Henry Pedris Grounds.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party will gather at Campbell Park, and the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) has organized its rally at Hyde Park.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police have implemented special security and traffic plans in Colombo and other areas as large crowds are expected to attend the May Day events.
