Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Foreign Employment, Vijitha Herath, has reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to maintaining a cooperative dialogue with the United Nations (UN) on human rights.
The assurance came during a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, who is currently on a visit to Sri Lanka until 26 June.
Minister Herath briefed Türk on the Government’s progress in reconciliation and human rights, emphasising continued engagement since the current administration took office.
This is the first visit by a UN Human Rights Chief to Sri Lanka since 2016.
