Isipathana College Under-14 boys’ hockey team led by Abdul Malik emerged runner-up in the boys’ category by showcasing their talents with a splendid performance going down to Elwala Vidyalaya in a single series of a penalty shootout in a thrilling contest at the final after the game ended in a draw. 

The tournament was organised and conducted by the Mathale Hockey Club and played in Mathale recently. 

Following an invitation by the Mathale Hockey Club around 24 Boys and 16 Girls teams from the Island participated at this 2025 tournament with 6 boys and 4 girls’ teams being selected from Colombo. 

Isipathana College Under-14 stickers in their league matches beat Sri Parakum Vidyalaya by two goals to nil (M.Naqib 1, Zaid Malik 1), beat St. Anthony's College by 2 goals to nil (Nilsara Dissanayake 2), drew with Christ Church College nil all, beat St. Peter's College on a 3/2 penalty shoot (M.Naqib 1, A.M.Umar 1, Abdul Malik 1), beat St. Aloysius College by 4 goals to two (M.Naqib 1, Abdul Malik 1, Nilsara Dissanayake 1, A.M. Umar 1).

Qualifying to the quarterfinal, they beat Maris Stella College by 2 goals to one (M.Naqib 1, Nilsara Dissanayake 1), semifinal, beat Royal College by 2 goals to one (M.Naqib 1, A.M.Umar 1), Final, lost to Elwala Vidyalaya on a single series penalty shootout after the game ended in a draw.
