Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa has urged Sri Lankan specialist doctors working in the United Kingdom to consider returning home, citing a shortage of specialists.
The Minister revealed on social media that he made the request during a recent official visit to the UK, at a meeting organised by the Sri Lankan High Commission.
He acknowledged that the doctors had left for various reasons but stressed the current need in Sri Lanka's health service.
Minister Jayatissa assured the doctors that if they returned, they would be reinstated in their same positions with all previous service benefits.
