The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been restructured into four separate state-owned entities under the new Electricity Act.
The newly formed companies are the National System Operator, National Transmission Network Service Provider, Electricity Distribution Lanka, and Electricity Generation Lanka.
According to the Ministry of Energy, current CEB employees have a two-month period to apply for a transfer to a company of their choice.
Employees who do not wish to be transferred will be offered a retirement compensation scheme.
The Ministry also stated that senior management positions in the new institutions will be filled by recruiting top-level engineers from the current CEB staff.
