Examination results: Two more months for 2022 A/L results

The results of last year’s GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination will take another two months to be released, The Sunday Morning learns.

Department of Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara told The Sunday Morning: “With regard to the Advanced Level Examination results, it’s very hard to give an exact date when they will be released. They have already been delayed by three months and I have had no support. I believe the Advanced Level Examination results will take at least another two months before they are released.”

The Advanced Level Examination results have already been delayed by three months due to trade union action as well as protests being carried out by teachers.

He said that the delay was due to a lack of cooperation by teachers and university lecturers in the paper marking process.

“I have been doing this alone without any support. The university unions unnecessarily disengaged themselves from this process and the teachers did not submit their applications to undertake paper marking. Even now we have only received a small number of applications. Even those who applied are not supportive – they come and ask for advance payments and conduct protests; the situation in the country is chaotic. I’m doing my best to get the results out as soon as possible.”

However, he noted that the Ordinary Level Examination’s recorrection results had come out on Friday (26).

“Ordinary Level recorrection results were released on Friday, so there is no issue with going forward with the Ordinary Level Examinations next week.”
