A total of 13,416 dengue cases have been reported island-wide so far this year, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

Community Physician Specialist Dr. Prasheela Samaraweera stated that four dengue-related deaths have also been recorded during this period.

The highest number of cases has been reported from the Colombo and Gampaha districts. In addition, cases have been identified in the Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts.

Health authorities have urged the public to seek medical attention from a qualified medical practitioner if a fever persists for more than two days, stressing that early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in preventing complications.
