One child remains missing after three schoolchildren were swept away by strong sea currents at Galle Face Beach, police said.

The children, aged around 15 and from Maligawatte, were among a group of six who had gone sea bathing.

Two children were rescued and admitted to hospital, while search operations are continuing for the missing child.

Divers from the Sri Lanka Navy have been deployed to assist in the search.
