The Knuckles’ Riverston tourist zone has been reopened to local and foreign tourists under strict restrictions following damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah, Matale District Secretary Prasanna Madanayake said.

Access has been restored only for light vehicles, based on technical and environmental assessments, while heavy vehicles and large buses remain restricted.

Authorities said the limited reopening aims to ensure visitor safety, manage traffic, and protect the fragile environment, with further decisions to be made after continued monitoring.
