First meeting of cabinet committee held to ensure continuity of public service

The inaugural meeting of the Cabinet Committee dedicated to safeguarding the systematic functioning of the public service was convened yesterday afternoon (19) at the Presidential Secretariat, with Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya presiding.


During the meeting, extensive discussions took place on maintaining the uninterrupted operation of government services while effectively managing energy resources, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East that has raised concerns about resource stability.


The Committee focused on strategies to ensure the continued delivery of essential government services without disruption. It also deliberated on measures to support public sector employees facing difficulties under the current circumstances, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public service delivery.


Participants in the meeting included key government officials such as the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government A. H.

M. M. H. Abayaratne, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri, Chief of Staff to the President Prabath Chandrakeerthi, and secretaries from various ministries including Health, Transport, Energy, and Digital Economy.


Also present were senior officials, including the Chairman of the Petroleum Corporation, D. J. A. S. S. Rajakaruna, and other members of the committee.
