The Most Venerable Akuressē Siri Dhammavimala Thera has been appointed as the new Chief Incumbent of Getambe Rajopawanaramaya Temple, following the passing of its former Chief Incumbent, the Most Venerable Keppitiyagoda Siriwimala Thera.

The late Thera, who also served as Anunayaka of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya, passed away on 18 October at the age of 96 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kandy.

His cremation ceremony was held with state patronage at Getambe Grounds on 21 October.
