The Education Ministry has released the interview lists for the Grade 3-I(a) Teachers’ Service graduate recruitment, with 17,000 candidates called for interviews in the first round.

Cabinet of Ministers approval has been granted to recruit 23,006 graduate teachers. The recruitment process will be conducted in multiple rounds of interviews until all designated positions are filled.

Speaking at a press conference held yesterday (14), Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa said that although the interview lists had been released, all 23,006 candidates would not be interviewed at once due to various reasons. However, the Government expects to complete the recruitment process by 31 December, enabling the selected teachers to commence work with the new school term. “Many candidates have selected more than one subject, and there are also different allocations based on the Provinces. Therefore, we have called only 17,000 candidates for interviews in the first round. However, interviews will continue until all the positions are filled, and the teachers will be ready for the new school term,” he said. The interviews are scheduled to commence on 15 November.

He added that the recruitment of Bachelor of Education graduates to the teaching service would also take place during this period. However, this recruitment process would be conducted separately from the 23,006 positions allocated for graduate candidates.

Speaking at the same press conference, the Ministry’s Additional Secretary (Establishment), Amal Edirisooriya said that the time gap between the release of the examination results and the commencement of interviews is intended to give candidates sufficient time to prepare the required documents. Candidates must submit a Police clearance certificate confirming their good character, a university certificate verifying that they have earned more than one-third of the total credits in their degree in the subject for which they have applied, and certification confirming that their names are included in the 2022 electoral register. He requested candidates included in the interview lists to check their interview dates, which are expected to be published within a week, and prepare the required documents in advance.

The Grade 3-I(a) Teachers’ Service examination was held on 24 May at 1,049 centres across the country, with a total of 126,034 candidates sitting. A total of 75,640 candidates have obtained the pass mark.
