The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) stated that a majority of doctors will not comply with the current transfer process.

GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya noted that over 23,000 doctors are not prepared to work under coercion.

He also stated that less than one-fifth of the planned 6,000 transfers have been completed since February.

The remarks come amid a dispute with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa over the ongoing transfer programme.
