The 26th edition of the Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2025 is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the 74th Anniversary Celebrations of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Organised by the Air Force Cycling Federation under the guidance of Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the event will feature both Men and Women races.
The men’s race will unfold over three stages across three days, while women’s race will be a one-day event.
More than 175 elite Sri Lankan and international cyclists are expected to compete, promising an intense and thrilling contest.
The event will be conducted in strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the National Cycling Federation and international standards.
This will be the 26 th consecutive year of the cycle race and the prestigious race is known as Sri Lanka’s premier and longest running nationa-l level cycling event, aiming to elevate the sport’s popularity and foster competition among cyclists.
The Stages and the routes of the Men’s Race as follows: (Total distance 414 km)
28 February: Weerawila to Ratnapura (140.5 km) Route – Weerawila, Hambantota, Ambalanthota, Nonagama Junction, Embilipitiya, Udawalawe, Godakawela, kahawatta, Pelmadulla, Batugedera, Ratnapura, Ratnapura New Town, opposite Sabaragamuwa Stadium.
1 March: Ratnapura to Kandy (118.3km) Route – Ratnapura opposite Sabaragamuwa Stadium, Kuruwita, Ehaliyagoda, Avissawella, Thalduwa, Ruwanwella, Anguriwella, Galigamuwa Junction, Nelumdeniya, Kegalle, Mawanella, Pilimathalawa, Kandy.
2 March: Kandy to Colombo (155 Km) Route – Kandy, Peradeniya, Katugasthota, Galagedera, Mawathagama, Kuruneragla, Narammala, Giriulla, Pannala, Dankotuwa, Kochchikade, Negombo, Katunayake, Ja-Ela, Wttala, Peliyagoda, Panchikawatta, Lake House roundabout, Lotus road, Galle Road to Galle Face.
The women’s cycling race will be held on 2 March from Mirigama to Colombo with a distance of 89 km.
Cash prize pool exceeding 2.5 million has been allocated for the winners of men and women categories.
The prize giving will be held on 2 March at the Riffle Green, Air Force Ground, Colombo commencing at 4.30 p.m.
