The Department of Meteorology issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning today (04).

The warning is in effect until 11.30 p.m. covering Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and Uva provinces, and Kalutara, Polonnaruwa, Galle and Matara districts.

Thundershowers with severe lightning are likely after 1.00 p.m., with temporary strong winds.

The public is advised to take precautions to minimise damage from lightning.
