The National Dengue Control Unit said that a total of 97,637 dengue cases have been reported in Sri Lanka so far this year (2026). A total of 74 people have died from dengue during the same period. Meanwhile, 2,146 dengue cases have been reported during the first 13 days of this month (September). The Gampaha District has recorded the highest number of dengue cases, with 20,742 cases reported so far this year. Colombo follows with 19,235 cases, while the Kandy and Kalutara Districts have recorded 7,291 and 6,247 cases, respectively.
