Sri Lanka was bundled out for their second-lowest One Day International (ODI) total ever during the Asia Cup 2023 final held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today (17).
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka could only manage a paltry 50 runs in 15.2 overs.
The disastrous innings was largely due to a sensational spell of bowling by India's Mohammed Siraj, who tore through the Sri Lankan batting lineup.
This abysmal total marked the lowest ever in men's Asia Cup ODIs, surpassing the previous record held by Bangladesh, who had managed 87 runs against Pakistan in 2000.
Sri Lanka's previous lowest ODI score in the 50-over format had been recorded in 2012 when they were dismissed for just 43 runs in 20.1 overs, resulting in a massive 258-run defeat.
The Sri Lankan team, on the other hand, will look back on this final as a disappointing outing with the bat.
