The Sri Lankan government and the European Union (EU) have signed a €8 million grant agreement to support the country's economic recovery.
The new initiative will focus on biodiversity conservation and solid waste management.
The project aims to restore degraded ecosystems and implement effective waste management systems to improve both environmental protection and public health.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the partnership with the EU is a significant step towards creating an eco-friendly and resilient economy, aligning with the government's national policy.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, and Carmen Moreno, the EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
