The National Building Research Institute (NBRO) has extended landslide early warnings until 4.00 p.m. today (24) due to continued heavy rainfall.

Level 2 warnings are in effect for Elapatha, Kuruwita and Ratnapura in Ratnapura District; Mawanella, Deraniyagala, Ruwanwella, Dehiowita and Aranayake in Kegalle District; and Ambagamuwa and Norwood in Nuwara Eliya District.

Level 1 warnings have also been issued for areas across Badulla, Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.

Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions against possible landslides.
