Police say the driver arrested over the fatal crash near a Vesak Dansala at Meegoda Junction was under the influence of alcohol.

Six people, including three women, were killed when a cab crashed into a crowd on Saturday night (31).

Seven others, including a child, were injured and admitted to Homagama Base Hospital.

The suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Piliyandala, has been arrested. Investigations are continuing.
