The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction led by Nimal Siripala de Silva has launched a new alliance today (14), called Podujana Eksath Peramuna (People’s Alliance). 

Former minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has been named as the Leader of the new alliance, while State Ministers Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Chamara Sampath Dassanayake have been appointed as the General Secretary and Treasurer respectively. 

The new alliance will contest in the upcoming elections under the symbol of the chair.
