Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage has urged the public not to criticize the national men’s cricket team over a single series defeat. He highlighted that Sri Lanka had recently secured both the Test and ODI series victories against Bangladesh.

He emphasised that winning two series and losing one is normal in sports, and the focus should not be solely on setbacks. “It’s unfair to talk only about one loss,” he said.

The Minister also noted that joint efforts with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are underway to revive the sport, with guidance from Head Coach Sanath Jayasuriya. He affirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting SLC in returning Sri Lankan cricket to its former glory.
