Ministry of Health has issued a set of guidelines to prevent accidents and acute medical conditions during traditional Avurudu games held for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
The guidelines, issued by the Directorate of Non-Communicable Diseases, focus on popular games such as Kotta Pora, Kana Mutti Bindima, Gama Haraha Divima, cycling, swimming, and tug-of-war.
Authorities noted that while these activities are festive, they carry risks, and the measures aim to ensure the safety of both participants and spectators.
