Minister of Health Ramesh Pathirana revealed plans to raise the retirement age of certain healthcare services to 61 years.
This move comes amid challenges in implementing previous decisions to extend retirement to 63 years, causing disruptions in staffing.
The minister assured no further extension beyond 61 and announced recruitment plans for 3,000 new nurses to address staffing shortages, with only 1,000 vacancies remaining.
