Opposition MPs have called for key officials to testify before a parliamentary committee probing the controversial release of 323 containers without inspection.

They have requested that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, former Ports Minister Bimal Rathnayake, and former Deputy Minister Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku be summoned.

The proposal was submitted to committee chairman Harshana Nanayakkara by opposition MPs including Ajith P. Perera.

The committee is set to meet today (22) in Parliament to decide on summoning the requested witnesses.
