Prime Minister and Minister of Education Harini Amarasuriya says Sri Lanka’s future leaders must be shaped through holistic primary education, including aesthetics and sports.

She made the remarks at the “Punchi Hapannu 2026” event held at Polpithigama National School in the Kurunegala District on 18 June.

The event recognised winners of a primary school language and literary competition involving 49 schools in the Polpithigama Education Division.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new two-storey building at Makulpotha Maha Vidyalaya, funded at Rs.45mn.
