A private hospital in Kandar Madam, Jaffna, has been fined Rs.3mn by the Jaffna Magistrate's Court for charging above the approved fee for a Full Blood Count (FBC) test.

The Consumer Affairs Authority had set the maximum fee at Rs. 400, but the hospital charged Rs. 550.

The court also ordered the hospital to publish a notice about the offence at its own expense. Complaints can be made to the CAA hotline 1977.
