A total of 15 inbound flights were diverted from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) since 10:55 p.m. yesterday (27) due to unsafe landing conditions caused by severe weather.

Flights were rerouted to Mattala, Trivandrum, and Cochin, while 16 other scheduled flights at BIA faced delays.

Mattala Airport has been placed on high alert and has already handled six diversions safely.

A scheduled flight from Jaffna Airport was also cancelled due to weather risks.
