The Sri Lankan government has started official talks with Russia to secure fuel through intergovernmental agreements, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated.

The Russian Deputy Energy Minister is expected to visit Sri Lanka soon to advance these discussions.

Minister Jayatissa noted that while Iran has offered fuel, Sri Lanka currently lacks access to available tankers. Several fuel orders have already been placed, with some shipments expected to arrive in April.
