Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance, MP Harsha de Silva, welcomed Kristalina Georgieva during her visit to Sri Lanka and expressed appreciation for support from the International Monetary Fund.
Speaking in Parliament, he noted that Sri Lanka recovered from the financial crisis with bipartisan backing that enabled the IMF programme to proceed.
Dr. de Silva stated that the IMF should continue its engagement and extend support beyond financial measures to governance reforms.
He emphasised the need to move beyond partisan politics to strengthen institutional governance and national recovery.
