National Environment Week will be observed across Sri Lanka from May 30 to June 5 ahead of World Environment Day.
The national celebration on June 5 will be held under the patronage of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, according to the Ministry of Environment.
Island-wide programmes on environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, water conservation, air pollution control and coastal clean-ups are scheduled during the week.
The Ministry also announced that five additional forests will be declared protected reserves to mark World Environment Day.
