The tender deadline for constructing a new passenger terminal at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has been extended to March.

Deputy Minister of Ports and Aviation, Ruwan Kodituwakku, announced that construction is set to begin in June. 

The new terminal aims to boost BIA's annual passenger handling capacity to 15 million by 2028.
