The government has approved additional funds to continue purchasing paddy from farmers during the 2025 Yala season. 

So far, the government allocated Rs. 6,000 million for the program. 

The Paddy Marketing Board has already used Rs. 5,288 million to purchase 43,891 metric tons of paddy across 16 districts.

With harvesting still underway in the Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, and Trincomalee districts, the Paddy Marketing Board plans to continue its purchasing efforts. 

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal from the Minister of Agriculture to secure the extra provisions needed to buy the remaining paddy at the government's fixed price.
