Sujan Perera’s men during the past 11-month period have made extraordinary strides in the FIFA World Rankings moving from 207 to 196.
Sri Lanka remained the sole South Asian nation to secure a win in the ongoing international window thanks to their now famous triumph over the Chinese Taipei side.
In comparison regional counterparts such as India, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh all experienced losses during this period.
The ‘Golden Army’ as they are fondly called, will next be in action in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Turkmenistan both at home and away in October, after which they will host Thailand and then face Chinese Taipei away in March 2026.
