The European Union has allocated €2.35 million in humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka following Tropical Cyclone Ditwah, including €500,000 via IFRC and €1.85 million through WFP and UNICEF.
In addition, in-kind support under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism arrived on December 17, with 83 tonnes of relief supplies including tents, mattresses, hygiene kits, and water filters from Germany, France, and Luxembourg.
Italy also sent structural engineers to aid disaster assessment.
The EU has activated its Copernicus Emergency Management Service to produce rapid maps for relief operations, reaffirming its continued support for Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts.
