A semblance of normalcy has returned to Kathmandu after two days of violent anti-government protests that led to the death of 19 people and the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
The Nepal Army has been deployed across the capital to take charge of security and has advised all stranded foreign nationals to contact nearby security personnel or their hotels for assistance.
The protests, initially sparked by a Government ban on social media, quickly evolved into a larger movement against political corruption and apathy.
The violence resulted in protesters storming and setting fire to key government buildings, including the Supreme Court and Parliament.
In a notice, the Supreme Court (SC) stated that all hearings have been suspended indefinitely due to the destruction of files, documents, and servers in Tuesday's arson attack.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging all Sri Lankan nationals in Nepal to remain vigilant and can contact the Embassy of Sri Lanka for assistance.
