President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Prof. N.D. Fernando as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

Prof. Fernando previously served as Chairman of People’s Bank and is a Professor in the university’s Department of Finance.

His appointment will take effect from August 24, 2026.
