Health authorities have urged the public to follow guidelines to minimise accidents during Sinhala and Tamil New Year events.
The Ministry of Health stated that the guidelines, issued by its Non-Communicable Diseases Unit, outline safety measures for organisers and participants.
Authorities noted that endurance event participants should undergo at least six weeks of training, preferably under a qualified coach.
Organisers have been requested to ensure first aid centres and on-site medical facilities at event venues.
