Special security arrangements have been implemented in urban areas and places of worship ahead of the festive season, with an additional 2,500 police officers deployed across the Western Province, police said on 15 December.

Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler said the Inspector General of Police had directed all stations to strengthen security in cities, religious sites, shopping complexes and other crowded areas.

The public was urged to park carefully, avoid leaving valuables in vehicles and report suspicious activity.
