The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Sri Lanka's Parliament have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the use of population data in policymaking.
The partnership aims to support evidence-based laws and policies on population ageing, changing family structures, gender equality, and the health and rights of women and young people.
The agreement was signed between Parliament Secretary-General Kushani Anusha Rohanadeera and UNFPA Sri Lanka Representative a.i. Phuntsho Wangyel during the visit of UNFPA Regional Director ad interim Dr. Aleksandar Bodiroza.
UNFPA stated the partnership will help ensure future national development policies reflect Sri Lanka's changing population needs.
