The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has directed the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) to make submissions today (3) regarding a request to release electronic devices seized in connection with the ongoing Krrish transaction investigation. The directive was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after considering a motion filed on behalf of Dilshan Elmo Aloysius de Silva by President’s Counsel (PC) Saliya Pieris.
Counsel appearing for the petitioner, attorney-at-law Sanjaya Marambe informed Court that FCID officers had conducted a search at his client’s residence under a warrant issued by the Court and taken into custody laptops and Apple mobile phones belonging to the petitioner and his son. He told the Court that the seizure of the devices had affected his client’s ability to carry out day-to-day activities, including banking transactions. Pieris PC submitted that his client is willing to cooperate fully with the investigators and provide any required information, adding that the application had been made seeking the release of the seized electronic items.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate directed the FCID OIC to file a response when the matter is taken up today.
