Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (27), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm is possible in some areas.

Showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of Ampara, Monaragala, Hambantota and Batticaloa after 2.00 p.m.

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are also expected in several areas, including the western slopes of the Central Hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
