An 18-member squad has been selected to represent the Over-50 Sri Lanka Cricket Team for the upcoming World Cup tournament, organised by the Lanka Masters Cricket Association, which will be held in Sri Lanka from 9-23 February 2025.
Shane Fernando will captain the Over-50 Sri-Lanka Team, with Ruvin Peiris being appointed as his deputy.
Suwanji Madanayake, who showcased his talents as one of the finest all-rounders in the recently-concluded Masters tournaments along with Carman Mapatuna, has also been included.
The four players represented the Over-50 Sri Lanka Team at last year’s World Cup.
Ex-national caps Indika De Saram, Upul Chandana, and Saman Jayanrha has also been included for the Over-50 World Cup next year.
The team consists of 13 players from Sri Lanka, three players domiciled in Australia, and one player each from England and New Zealand.
The 13-member squad from Sri Lanka are Shane Fernando (capt.), Ruvin Peiris (v-capt.), Upul Chandana, Indika De Saram, Saman Jayantha, Suwanji Madanayake, Carman Mapatuna, Dilshan Amarasinghe, Chaminda Rajapakse, Punyakantha Abeygunasekara, Duminda Somaweera, Wendell Labrooy, and Pujitha Udduwana.
The three members domiciled in Australia are Daminda Wijesekera (New South Wales, Australia), Rusell Ingram (New South Wales, Australia), and Dillon Fernandesz (Victoria, Australia).
The member from England is Rory Ingram and the member from Auckland, New Zealand is Ravi Perera.
Harsha De Silva has been appointed as the coach, whilst Shantha Gunasekera has been appointed as the Team Manager.
