Acting Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra noted that Sri Lanka is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, where around one million Sri Lankan nationals are based.

All Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in the region have activated 24-hour emergency mechanisms.

Hotlines remain operational at the Consular Affairs Division (+94 742 595546) and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (1989, +94 719 802822).

Flights to Middle Eastern destinations scheduled for today (01) have been cancelled as a precaution.

The government noted that Sri Lanka remains stable, and the 24-hour Tourism Hotline 1912 is operational for visitors.
