Veteran actor Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai in the late hours of Monday, 30 September. The actor's condition is stable, and an official medical bulletin is expected soon. Reports suggested that he complained of a stomach pain.
However, sources confirmed that the Vettaiyan actor will undergo an elective procedure today, 1 October, which was scheduled earlier. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin conveyed his wishes to Rajinikanth for a speedy recovery.
His post on X in Tamil is loosely translated as saying, "I wish my friend Mr Rajinikanth, who has been hospitalised, a speedy recovery."
Over the past few weeks, Rajinikanth had been shooting for his upcoming film, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film's shooting is currently taking place in Visakhapatnam. He travelled to Chennai on September 20 to attend the audio launch of Vettaiyan.
At the audio launch, Rajinikanth performed the hookstep of Manasilaayo along with composer Anirudh Ravichander and lyricist Super Subbu. He also delivered almost an hour-long speech at the event.
Vettaiyan is Rajinikanth's upcoming film, which will hit theatres on October 10. The hard-hitting action drama is directed by TJ Gnanavel.
