The Colombo Magistrate’s Court (MC) today (9) rejected bail for two Police officers from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), arrested for accepting a bribe exceeding Rs. 150,000. 

Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage remanded them until 23 July. 

The officers were arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on 5 July while accepting the bribe at CCD premises. 

The CIABOC presented cash evidence of the Rs. 450,000 solicited from a Kurunegala resident to avoid arrest in a fraudulent money transfer case.
