Police have formally served a court order on Buddhist monks and their supporters staging a protest outside the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, seeking the release of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.

The Fort Magistrate’s Court issued the order following a police request to prevent the demonstration in the high-security zone.

The protesters arrived at the location on 15 October and remained there overnight, demanding a clear response from the Government regarding Gnanasara Thero’s release.
