A spectacular supermoon will be visible across Sri Lanka tonight ( 3), appearing about 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon, according to Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies.

The phenomenon occurs when the moon’s orbit brings it closest to Earth approximately 356,980 km away this time.

Tonight’s event marks the largest supermoon of the year and may also result in slightly higher coastal tides, the institute added.
