Sri Lanka’s overall manufacturing sector showed a positive growth trend, by recording a rise of 4.1% in the overall Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the month of February 2026, according to the latest IIP report released by the Department of Census and Statistics.
According to the report, the value of the Index of Industrial Production (manufacturing sector) for the month of February is reported as 97.3, an increase by 4.1% compared to the month of February in 2025, driven by fabricated metal products and wearing apparels.
Additionally, when the monthly difference of volume is considered, the overall manufacturing sector has increased by 0.3%, which is considered a positive turning point for the manufacturing sector, indicating a positive economic signal, expecting a rise in the manufacturing output and recovery, moving toward Sri Lanka’s economic development, showed the report.
